SoftMap on Windows XP

The software used in SoftMap topo50 products was designed before the introduction of the Windows XP operating system. The products clearly state that they are designed to operate on Windows 95, 98, Me, NT4 (sp3) and 2000.

When Windows XP became commercially available SoftMap conducted extensive technical evaluations, and experienced no problems when installing SoftMap topo50 products on Windows XP. No reason was found at that time why the systems would not function together.

Since then, we have received reports of some malfunctions from a few users. This represents a very small proportion of the many hundreds who are successfully using SoftMap topo50 products on Windows XP. A patch has been produced to resolve some of these problems. We are advised Microsoft are producing some modifications to the Windows XP program.

Until these changes become available, and the effects thoroughly evaluated, we are not able to provide a statement formally approving the use of SoftMap topo50 products on Windows XP.

SoftMap Publishing 2002 Inc successfully installed various SoftMap topo50 volumes without experiencing any problems. These are in daily use and have also been used for active demonstrations at trade shows.

Remember to disable your anti-virus program before installing any SoftMap product.
